The new Olivia Area Chamber of Commerce Executive Director is Deborah Ziller. Congrats to Deb. She is busy updating the chamber’s Facebook page which can be found at https://www.facebook.com/oliviachamberofcommerce . I encourage everyone in our community to check it out and “like” it to find out what is happening at the chamber. Deb will also start a community calendar and invite community members to send her community events to put on the calendar. Watch for this. It has been a need in our area for a while. There will be meet and greets with the local political candidates beginning with Andrew Falk seeking the State House District 17A. Mr. Falk will be at Masters Coffee Shop on Tuesday, October 18, at 11:00. The Chamber has invited all the local candidates and I look forward to visiting with them all. I hope all community members will make every effort to stop by. I will be posting times and locations for all candidates as they become available. Please check the Olivia Area Chamber of Commerce Facebook website for future events such as Holidays Happenings and future Chamber meetings that are open to all members.
The rain has caused some delay in harvest in our area so the activity on our roads has dramatically increased. With the decrease in sunlight hours, our roads and streets become more problematic. I urge everyone to be particularly cautious. This is the time of year when we see serious highway accidents occur. Please be attentive to safety, always wear your seat belt, turn your lights on a bit earlier, watch for those young people walking and biking from events or just out and about and please do not drink and drive. We all want this to be a very safe and successful harvest season for our entire area.
