Officer Michelle Jensen, Olivia Police Department, warns that several Olivia residents have recently received telephone calls from an individual accusing them of hitting the caller’s unoccupied car, stating that their name and number had been left on the windshield.

In these reported instances, the suspect is most likely looking to get driver license numbers and other personal information.  If you receive a call similar in nature, DO NOT give out any personal information, such as address, driver’s license number, or other personal information.  Tell the scammer you will be making a report with your local law enforcement agency and that if they are a legitimate caller, they can be in contact with police where the “crash” occurred.
