Predatory Offender Public Notification

News Release:  Level 3 Predatory Offender

The Olivia Police Department and Renville County Sheriffs Department are releasing information regarding a Level III Predatory Offender pursuant to MN State Statute 244.052.  This statute authorizes law enforcement agencies to inform the public of a Level 3 sexual or predatory offender, who members of the community are likely to encounter, when law enforcement believes that the release of information will enhance public safety and protection.

Jeffrey Joseph Lingl moved into the City of Olivia on June 24, 2013.  Lingl has been convicted of Criminal Sexual Conduct or another offense that requires registration with law enforcement pursuant to MN Statutes 243.166 or 243.167.  He has a history of sexual contact with female victims (ages 4-adult).  Contact included fondling and penetration.  This offender was known to his victims.  Click here to view the full Public Fact Sheet on this individual.

This offender is not wanted by the police at this time and has served the sentence imposed on him by the court.  This notification is not intended to increase fear in the community.  Rather, the Olivia Police Department and Renville County Sheriffs Office wish to pass along relevant information to ensure public safety.

Neither the Olivia Police Department, the Renville County Sheriffs Office, nor the Minnesota Department of Corrections may direct where this offender does or does not reside, nor can these agencies direct where he works or goes to school.  The risk level of this offender has been determined based largely on his potential to re-offend based on his previous criminal behavior.

A Community Notification Meeting regarding this offender was held on June 27th, 2013 at 6:00 p.m. at the Olivia Community Center, 818 Lincoln Ave East, Olivia MN.

Representatives from the Department of Corrections, Renville County Sheriffs Office and Olivia Police Department will be available to provide you with useful information on public safety.
