Boulevard Tree Program

Exciting news! The City of Olivia is starting a new program to provide Boulevard trees to residents. This program will be offered in the Spring and in the Fall of 2018 & 2019. There will be 25 trees provided each time.

Each resident is able to select one tree per household and they will be able to provide input on their choice of tree from an approved list. Since there will be a limited amount of trees, trees will be given on a first come, first serve basis.

The process would start with the homeowner being given a stake to mark where they would prefer to have the tree placed. Public Works will coordinate a utility locate for that location to determine if the preferred location is suitable for establishing a new boulevard tree. If the location is acceptable, Public Works will confirm approval of the site with the resident.  If the location is found not to be suitable, Public Works will work with the resident to identify a viable alternative site to place a tree.

Once a location is identified, digging permits secured and a signed maintenance agreement on file, a tree will be delivered to the resident.  The homeowner will be responsible for planting and maintaining the tree they had selected.

If you are interested in reserving a tree – please stop into City Hall to fill out a form and view the list (along with pictures) of trees that will be available. If you have any questions – please contact us at 320-523-2361 or you may send an email to
